Firehouse Ministries Needs during COVID 19

Current Needs of Firehouse Ministries

Supplies Needed for the New Shelter


  • Cleaning supplies: glass cleaner, bathroom cleaner, bleach, brooms, garbage bags, dustpans, paper towels, mops, etc.
  • Clothing: boxers, belts, new or gently used blue jeans, black pants and black shirts, gently used shoes, dress shoes (black), visibility work clothing (vests)
  • Food: #10 cans, breakfast cereal, breakfast bars, milk, shelf stable bulk food items, coffee, creamer, sugar
  • Office supplies: copy paper, notebooks for guests, pens for guests
  • Hygiene items: razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, headache/stomach OTC medications
  • reusable water bottles for guests, as we now have water bottle filling stations
  • pillows, pillow covers, XL twin sheet sets and lightweight blankets


Blue Jeans and Baskets Bash Sponsorship Opportunities

Dear Loyal Firehouse Supporter,


The Blue Jeans and Baskets Bash is the primary fundraiser for Firehouse Ministries. The Firehouse, as it is affectionately known, is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit (tax ID: 63-0884164) that administers lifesaving interventions to Birmingham’s chronically homeless male population. Our agency serves the men that face a variety of barriers, including substance abuse, mental health issues, and issues surrounding deep systemic poverty. When every other door is shut, The Firehouse opens our wide, welcoming the hardest to house into our family and helping them to achieve their goals, ultimately turning the homeless into the housed and productive citizens they are meant to be.

Helping the quantity of people we manage to serve every year is difficult- when you look at the breath of services and the extreme needs of our guests it is obvious that we are truly dependent on fundraising efforts and the generosity of local businesses and individuals. The Blue Jeans and Baskets Bash is a fundraiser that will take place on NOVEMBER 22nd, 2019 at Iron City. The average attendance is around 400 people, and the majority of attendees are local business men and women that are heavily invested in our community. The event features live music, complimentary food from local restaurants and donated beer/wine, a large basket drawing, and a silent and live auction. The event typically raises around $65,000, and the money is paramount to our operating budget. 93 cents out of every dollar goes to supportive services, so we make each dollar raised work hard for the homeless and the community.

We ask that you consider a sponsorship of the Blue Jeans and Baskets Bash. A sponsorship of this event shows the community your true commitment to helping those with great need and living in extreme poverty, and attendance at the event provides a relaxed philanthropic activity for your staff or clients. There are several different options:

$1,250.00- Lieutenant’s Level 4 tickets (1/2 reserved table) to Blue Jeans and Baskets Bash, social media recognition, logo on Firehouse Ministries website and event signage, and thanks in all promotional materials.

$2,500.00- Chief’s Level– 8 tickets (1 reserved table) to Blue Jeans and Baskets Bash, social media recognition, logo on Firehouse Ministries website for 1 year as a Firehouse supporter and prominent company logo on event signage and materials.

$5,000- Captain’s Level– 16 tickets (2 reserved tables) to Blue Jeans and Baskets Bash, social media promotion and media recognition, logo on Firehouse Ministries website for 1 year as a Firehouse supporter and prominent company logo on event signage and materials.

Memorial Brick Campaign

In December, 2019, the doors will open to the NEW Firehouse Ministries emergency shelter for the homeless. We will finally have a building that will allow us to tailor our services not only to our current population of chronically homeless men, but also to families, youth, and those that are medically fragile. Even though we have come such a long way since the beginning days of the Capital Campaign we still need your help!
The bricks campaign will allow you to honor a loved one by investing in what truly matters. Each 4×8 donor brick, only $100, can be inscribed with up to three lines and will be featured on the path leading up to the building.
Buying a brick is a permanent reminder that you care about the homeless, and it leaves a lasting legacy for your  children, yourself, your company, or your loved ones. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to come to the shelter to serve a meal and see your very own brick?
