Resource Development Coordinator
Under the supervision of the Director of Mission Advancement, the Resource Development Coordinator focuses on managing the organization’s robust volunteer program, obtaining and growing the in-kind gifts program, and assisting with assisting with the planning, coordination and execution of special events and other office duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees and supports the volunteers who help manage ongoing projects and special events as well as those who volunteer at the shelter
- Communicates with volunteers and employees about events/projects and goals
- Assists in planning and executing signature events, including soliciting sponsorships and in-kind donations, site selection, logistical arrangements, purchasing supplies, promoting events, invitations, scheduling and being the primary point of contact for the event
- Increases FH presence in the community by attending community outreach activities, including health fairs, speaking engagements, and events
- Coordinates in-kind program, including food and general donations, to increase donor base
- Claims food rescues via Grace Klein website and picks up accordingly
- Documents all in-kind donations
- Schedules and gives tours of shelter
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1-3 years of demonstrated success in events management
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance required
- Ability to relate to people from all socioeconomic backgrounds
- Self-motivated with demonstrated success in working as a member of a team, developing and managing effective working relationships with staff, advisory council members, donors and volunteers
- Ability to work with an appropriate level of independence and initiative
- Ability to think creatively, tactically, strategically and be flexible when a change in direction is needed
- Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of the community, including non-profit organizations/partners, and a good understanding of the social and economic structure of the communities in and around the Birmingham area
- Commitment to professional development and personal growth
