Pathway to Health is a supportive housing initiative by Firehouse Ministries that provides 12 units for chronically homeless adults living with mental illness or physical disabilities. Designed to complement our Medical Respite Program, this project offers stable housing in community-based settings tailored to individual needs, including proximity to healthcare, groceries, and support services.
Through partnerships with Cahaba Medical Center and the Housing Authority of Birmingham District, Pathway to Health connects residents with high-quality healthcare and affordable housing. Participants are referred through One Roof’s Coordinated Entry system, with priority given to medically fragile individuals who face barriers to traditional housing programs.
This program empowers residents to recover, stabilize, and move toward permanent housing—without requiring medical staff or replacing skilled nursing care. It reflects Firehouse Ministries’ commitment to compassionate, inclusive care for Birmingham’s most vulnerable neighbors.
