Meal Server Calendar

Firehouse Ministries is grateful for the dedicated volunteers who take action by cooking and serving meals throughout the year. Meal service is a vital part of our mission, ensuring that individuals experiencing homelessness receive warm, nourishing meals in a welcoming environment.

Meal Service Schedule & Volunteer Needs

We serve three meals daily, and the number of volunteers needed depends on how you choose to serve:

Lunch (11:30 AM) – Serves 100-125 people

• Planning & Serving: 8-10 volunteers
• Bringing food or serving only: 6-8 volunteers

Day Shelter Meal (4:00 PM) – Serves 60-75 people

• Planning & Serving: 4-5 volunteers
• Bringing food or serving only: 4-5 volunteers

Dinner (7:30 PM) – Serves 75-100 people

• Planning & Serving: 4-5 volunteers
• Bringing food or serving only: 4-5 volunteers

Meal numbers fluctuate seasonally, with higher demand in colder months.

Ways to Serve

We offer three options for volunteer meal service:

• Bring & Serve: Prepare a meal in advance and serve it at the shelter.
• Cook On-Site & Serve: Use ingredients from our pantry to prepare and serve a meal.
• Serve Only: Assist in serving meals prepared by other volunteers.

If you’re preparing your own meal, call ahead for an updated headcount.

Important Guidelines

• Maximum of 10 volunteers in the kitchen at a time
• Minimum age to volunteer is 8 (Under 18 must have a chaperone)
• Plan to arrive two hours early if cooking on-site; one hour early if bringing a prepared meal
• Effective January 1, 2025: Court-ordered community service is no longer available
