Expanded Permanent Housing

In May 2011, The Firehouse Shelter added 30 beds to our existing 32 person capacity to give us 62 permanent supportive housing spaces in our new Center Point location off Center Point Parkway. In addition, we completed a $500,000 complete renovation project in Fountain Heights in conjunction with the City of Birmingham at our CDM complex. We now provide 18-20 previously homeless men a 2 bedroom 2 story apartment complete with a downstairs living room, kitchen, 1/2 bath, dining area and full upstairs bath with two bedrooms.

Overall, we have increased our permanent supportive housing capacity 175% since 2011. Now that we have helped an additional 50 men achieve housing stability, the next step is to increase the quality of the men’s lives. This is a community effort and we are seeking to partner with as many volunteers, churches, non-profit agencies and businesses that will make a difference!

Join us in our fight to end homelessness as we know it!
