Community Garden (Smithfield Neighborhood)

*Ground was broken in May 2012 for our first-ever Community Garden.
*Fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices are planted and harvested seasonally.
*All food grown is taken back to the Shelter kitchen and utilized in future meals for our guests.
*The Community Garden provides healthy eating options for the men we feed everyday and some of the men who participate in our housing programs that take time to volunteer their time to ‘garden’ with us.
*For many suffering from addiction, the therapeutic benefits of gardening assist the men in becoming healthy and whole once again. All men participating on the TEAM Substance Abuse Program volunteer at the Community Garden each week.
